Song of the day. Band of Horses. For Annabelle.

"If I want to walk home with you
Hearing every word, thinking it's true
In a barren field for us to cut through
On our victory lap 'cross an old street cat

That turns to stop and see you
A small stone somewhere in your shoe
All day long
All day long
Long

The old folks wake up for the day
Seeing the monsters have lingered from the past
And a great bird is flying away
From our family tree, something wrong with me

Yeah, and I got a secret or two
Hiding somewhere but it won't take long
No, it won't take long
Long"

My little sweetheart asleep.

There's really no better feeling in the world. She fell asleep on Daddy yesterday afternoon and was still asleep when I got home so we switched and she stayed like that for hours. There's nothing in world I love more than her.

11/18/13 -song of the day

I go to the barn because I like the

"Well i'd like to think i'm the mess you'd wear with pride.
Like some empty dress on the bed you've layed out for tonight.
Maybe i'll tell you sometime.

Time.sometime.

And you were right.

Right.

You were right
Outside by your doorstep
In a worn out suit and tie
I'll wait
For you to come down
Where you'll find me
Where we'll shine

Oh"

Another Thursday inspiration

Of course. Jackson Browne.

I heard this song last night. Covered by Katey Segal & it echoed through me. I knew it well, but somewhere I had lost the sound of the original voice in my memory. & then there it was. Here it is.
Taking me back. Again and Again. Some memories are so deep.

"Keep a fire burning in your eye
Pay attention to the open sky
You never know what will be coming down
I don't remember losing track of you
You were always dancing in and out of view
I must have thought you'd always be around
Always keeping things real by playing the clown
Now you're nowhere to be found

I don't know what happens when people die
Can't seem to grasp it as hard as I try
It's like a song I can hear playing right in my ear
That I can't sing
I can't help listening
And I can't help feeling stupid standing 'round
Crying as they ease you down
'Cause I know that you'd rather we were dancing
Dancing our sorrow away
(Right on dancing)
No matter what fate chooses to play
(There's nothing you can do about it anyway)

Just do the steps that you've been shown
By everyone you've ever known
Until the dance becomes your very own
No matter how close to yours
Another's steps have grown
In the end there is one dance you'll do alone

Keep a fire for the human race
Let your prayers go drifting into space
You never know what will be coming down
Perhaps a better world is drawing near
And just as easily it could all disappear
Along with whatever meaning you might have found
Don't let the uncertainty turn you around
(The world keeps turning around and around)
Go on and make a joyful sound

Into a dancer you have grown
From a seed somebody else has thrown
Go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own
And somewhere between the time you arrive
And the time you go
May lie a reason you were alive
But you'll never know"

Thursday inspiration.

Sick house

That's us. Carm started on Halloween afternoon with a high fever that lasted two days thankfully urine culture was negative- then the virus turned to croup by the time she went back to the Dr's on Tuesday. Sunday I was hit with aches and pains and the worst sore throat ever. Strep test was negative- so I've just got to fight through this with tea and sleep and chicken soup. Carm and I were cooped up for 5 days feeling yucky while Dad roofed, but he wasn't able to miss the bullet on this one and came down with the fever yesterday. Today is his worst. My parents kept Carm overnight last night so we could all get some sleep. Thank god for them, seriously I don't know what we would do. I said to my husband last night- can you picture my parents at 16 & 20 yrs old with 2 kids that are sick and here we are in our 30's and THEY are watching Carm over night. Makes me feel pretty damn lucky.
We both took nyquil and hit the hay by 8pm. For me, the sleep made a worlds difference although I am still not quite myself yet.

Oh, now I remember why I started writing... because the nyquil has given me some crazy dreams over the past few days; Last week I dreamt I told my bosses daughter off and then had to quietly resign from my job. Then I dreamt all of my teeth had fallen out, into my hands, one at a time- I could see the long roots and they were bloody. I didn't feel any pain though. And then last night, Michael Pare, the actor from Eddie and the cruisers graced my dream with his presence. That's not a bad dream for sure. In fact, I think he even sand that new york city song in nothing but a towel.
