Memorial Day Garden Walk

Memorial day was spent relaxing at home, then taking the ferry over the river to go to Bernie & Mo's, have some wine and walk their 4 gardens. I just love their home & what a gorgeous day!

Cha Cha Changes.

I renewed my gym membership today after being on hiatus since Carm was born. It took all of 5 minutes, which was about all I could handle, but Carolino hooked me up. I am in better shape now than I was before I got pregnant, go figure, but it's time to get muscle showing through this cover layer of soft skin :) Mike sent me to work with rabbit food today. Lettuce. Broccoli. Carrots. Yogurt. English muffin. Peanut butter (which would be a treat..if I actually liked peanut butter) & more lettuce & more carrots & more broccoli. I was kind of pissed and wanted those keebler grasshopper cookies I know we have 3 boxes of in the kitchen cabinet...but I've managed to let it go.
Besides, who's husband actually makes & packs their lunch everyday...?

A long weekend

We went to Mike's cousin Stacey's house for a housewarming party on Sunday. Carmen is so awesome. She is really a trooper when it comes to big family get-togethers. My favorite part of the day is her hanging out in the guy's music circle and clapping with the music. Awesome. I hope everyone enjoyed their long holiday weekend and gave thanks & prayer to the brave men & woman who gave their lives for our country.

Super Dad

My husband really amazes me on his days that he has Carmie. Yesterday he somehow managed to vaccum & armorall the inside of my car, do all the dishes, make coffee & plant 12 tomato plants before the hour of 7:00am. After he was done making & packing my lunch, he took Stella to the vet with Carmie in tow...accomplished all of the grocery shopping, in the pouring rain, a load of laundry and somehow when I got home last night...had roses on the counter, a bubble bath with candles lit and a delicious vegetarian pasta dinner with toasted bread and a fresh salad!

There was nothing I had to do except feed Carm, relax in the tub, eat a delicious meal and play games with the little angel until she fell asleep.

No wonder the florist at the grocery store says "here comes Super Dad." every time she sees him!

Gorgeous girl

A wonderful weekend completely free from work with Carmen all to myself!Oh & Did I mention she is awesome at "Shake shake shake" & "High-Five," she even high-fived the waitress at breakfast Saturday morning!

Sunday on the water

Took Carm down to the back porch so she could see Daddy play. The last time she was at a gig was when she was 8 weeks old! She was mesmarized by all the activity and sounds. We only stayed for a short while, it was starting to get chilly on the water, but what a beautiful day!

Three new things that...

I keep reminding myself to write down so that I will remember them!

The first time Carmen heard the sound of the katydids outside. It was an amazing little expression. This was just last week. She stopped what she was doing, looked at the window and then looked back at me with a little gasp of air sound and then a big smile.

Last night her new discovery is rolling her head from side to side. She stands up and holds onto the coffee table and rocks her head left and right back and forth and laughs. It's very cute. I guess you'd have to be there.

Stella got her staples out yesterday and she was so happy to be done with the darn cone. Her and Carm played so nicely together while we were eating dinner. Stella was laying on the living room floor and Carm was going through her bag of toys and selecting a few to give to Stella....and Stella didn't even bite them, it probably took all of her strength to not want to just chew them all apart, but she didn't flinch. Then Carm kept pulling her collar to stand herself up...she wasn't gentle in the least, but Stella is an angel. I love them together.

Mike made a delicious Penne dish with Mushrooms, Broccoli, onion and orange tomato. Out of this world. No butter, just a little olive oil and a veggie boulion. We cut up some roni's for Carm and I haven't yet seen her manage to get every single piece of anything into her mouth like she did that pasta!

Birthday present from John & Sarah

John & Sarah came by for dinner after my birthday last month, That's right. I grew another year old. Whoop d doo. They brought me this beautiful painting. It's huge, so we hung it on a bare wall in our bedroom. Looks awesome!

Dad's new hobby

My Dad's become a blacksmith on the side. He has himself all set up in the yard and made me this great hanging plant hook from an old railroad spike. The pic really doesn't do justice. The top looks like a natural leaf and the spike twists as it becomes a hook.

Nursery coming together

Moved Auntie Kathleen's pink courderoy chair up to Carm's nursery. The place is becoming quite fun & cozy! I also finally got around to painting the 3 little Leo Lions on her wall. Pretty cute, huh!
We also hung that gorgeous grey mirror I scored at Home Goods on clearance.... maybe 3 years ago. (I can't resist a sale)

New nightlight for Carm's bathroom

Found this beautiful, but pricey night light at the French Hen in Essex...had to have it for Carm's bathroom.

Estate Piggy for Carm's Room

I've been hunting for a Mexican style hand painted piggy bank for Carm's room & found this adorable little estate piece on on Etsy from a sweet seller on New Jersey who shipped it with the cutest little note for Carmie!

Omelette

Sauteed onion, Ham, Mushrooms & Cheese. This thing needs a platter all it's own. Do you think there were leftovers?

Has it really been that long?

Looks like I haven't caught up since EASTER! Carm will be 11 months old tomorrow. Jeesh, the days have been flying. A lot has been going on, I don't know where to begin. First I should say we had an AWESOME check up at Yale. Carm's doing beautifully as ever and we are free from Doctors until July 31st when we go back for a repeat Ultrasound and full blood work, liver/kidney function tests. Our Dr. is in agreement with the Boston ped's Dr that Carm is truly a rare case and doing wonderfully.

Our other little girl, Stella, had a rough time in these past few weeks. She came down with Pyometra, an infection of the reproductive organs, common in older dogs that were never bred. This called for an emergency vet visit on a Sunday as well as emergency surgery. Luckily, we found a wonderful vet in Higganum who took very good car of her and she was home the next day, albeit with her green cone and a stapled underbelly. She get's the staples out in 2 weeks.

I had my first Mother's day on Sunday which was awesome. Mike made a delicious omelette for breakfast, suprised me with a copper fire pit for the patio and a sweet card from him & Carm. We stayed home all day and resisted all invites to families for dinner. We were long overdue for a day with just the 3 of us and it was very much needed. We got so much done around the house, the lawn mowed & weedwhacked, the garden tilled, moved all the wood from the driveway and did alot of little things inside the house I wanted to do. We even lounged outside in the sun for a few minutes while Carm took a nap. Mom & Dad brought by some fresh blue crabs they caught the previous day so we made a delicious crab sauce for dinner.

More updates to come.
