My crazy husband!

I brought my camera to my parents hoping to get a nice 20+ week belly picture with the hubby. But he is crazy so this is it!

Fresh Cod for Dinner

Saturday, Dad and John headed out of town around 1:30am to go fish on the Hel-cat 2 which takes off out of Groton. After a cold day of fishing they came home with some beautiful Cod that Mom broiled up for dinner. Mike and I and Sarah met them for a wonderful dinner & some good laughs.

Dogs can sense everything

Did you know that Dogs are so sensitive they can pick up on your pregnancy sometimes even before you do? It's because of their sense of smell. Anyhow, our dog, the amazing Stella Azul is quite the sensitive lady. For the past few months she was definitely going through something as she was becoming aware of the changes. On a typical pre-pregnancy day, her favorite spot is right next to me...at all times. She's fine when she goes to work with Dad everyday, but at the end of the day when work is done she is my dog! By about last week I was starting to get a little worried because it was to the point where she was whining constantly because she needed to be next to me no matter what. (Honestly, when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom she gets up also and has to sit right in front of me otherwise she will cry outside the door.)
Anyhow, we had a couple days home together with her because of snow and finally a weekend off and I think she has snapped back to normal!! We bought her a new bed she is in love with! Yet, that still doesn't keep her from being the spoiled dog that she is by sleeping in our bed at night. Just look at her in the morning next to Daddy!

January 27th- Another Winter Storm

What can I say. We live in New England and it's winter time. And growing up, I really used to HATE it. Now, it doesn't seem to phase me. In fact, I enjoy the few minutes I spend out in the snow taking pictures before I go back inside to get warm by the woodstove with a nice cup of hot chocolate & marshmellows! I suppose if I had shoveling to do or driving in this kind of weather, it would bother me more- But since I can do the same job at home that I do at the office, why risk the drive to work...even if it IS only 7 miles- And I'm pregnant. It's probably not good to be shoveling:) Mike let me shovel behind what he already shoveled so I could feel like part of the team! I spent most of the day catching up on laundry, cleaning house and going to town on the bathroom. I threw out more hair products and make-up than you find in the local Rite Aid. Why do I keep this stuff just collecting dust & why do I have so many different products? I must buy 2 or 3 of each of these things when they are on sale and I am finding I spend less and less time in front of the mirror.

Okay, I am getting off track here. Let's look at the snow and the beautiful day we had home together!

19 week ultrasound

We had our 19 week ultrasound this morning during the snowfall- It was AMAZING. By far one of the coolest things Mike and I have ever experienced. We haven't had an ultrasound since 7 weeks...Wow. The difference. So our baby, gender still unknown, we turned our heads when they got to that part, is right on track! He or she....we think she, but only time will tell, is weighing in at 9 ounces. The heartbeat was 136- The head is 4 centimeters across and the little feet are an inch long! Arms, legs, fingers and toes are accounted for! Right now the baby is laying straight across the middle of my belly from left to right. The little feet are on my left side which I think is what I have been feeling fluttering over the past couple days. & The placenta is on top of the baby right now. So much information, you wonder what all of it means. She said the placenta can be whereever it wants to be, just as long as its not covering the cervix. All we know is our baby is healthy and strong and if all goes well, this morning should be the last ultrasound we have... The technician said you can pretty much tell right away how the baby is doing. We have the funniest picture of the baby upside down, bum in the air with the legs hanging over the head. That is going on the fridge! We got a picture of what looks like a yawn too. It was so cute to watch as it kept lifting its arms up and covering its face, like playing peek-a-boo.
Afterwards we met with the Dr. who was very cool. (See at this practice, there are 4 Dr's and you have to meet with all of them so you are comfortable with each one at the time of delivery...depending who is on-call.) We had our little book of questions we've been writing down as we have been thinking of things and we got a great feeling this time that THIS is the Practice for us and got all our questions/concerns answered the way we were hoping for.

Oh & I've gained 6 lbs from my pre-prego weight & my blood pressure was nice and low 104 over 70!!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!!!!!!!

Sons of Anarchy

Sunday morning, my sweetheart awoke me to french toast made from a baguette and scrambled eggs. We decided to watch the first episode of  Season 1 of Sons of Anarchy,  (a friend of mine from work thought we might like it) before we started our day-
1 episode turned into 2 and 2 turned into 3 and 3 turned into the entire season!!! Which we finished at 11:00pm- Seriously- We didn't even answer our ringing phones all day!! & honestly. It was one of the best lazy days I have had in a long long time-

So---tomorrow they are calling for 10-18 inches of snow here....looks like I should work from home....& Chrisann just happened to bring in Season 2! Oh boy- we are hooked-

Just a glimpse of Jackson Teller- I am a big fan:)
I am sure you can see why!

Trout- It's what WAS for dinner-

Dad caught a brown trout ice fishing on Saturday- so while stopping by my parents for some wood, we grabbed this guy and cooked him up for dinner with sauteed cabbage & artichokes-
olive oil in the skillet, clean fish dipped in egg, flour and breadcrumb, cook high & quick on both sides & serve with fresh lemon-

January 1, 2011

We awoke bright & squirly and ready for our New Years Day. (In past years we have spent the day in our robes, feasting on snacks and watching movie after movie- with a slight hangover) This year, I made breakfast, Mike made himself a Bloody Mary (& NO- that is not mine in the picture below!!) and we headed out the door. The plan was to head up to Stonington/ Mystic- have a nice lunch and do some shopping. We were so surprised when we arrived in Stonington that we got a great parking spot. Minutes later we knew why...Everything was CLOSED!! In any event, it was a warm and sunny new years day so we walked down the strip to the water- We tried Mystic next, same drill, closed, closed and more closed shops and restaurants- We drove Rt. 1 slowly back our way, stopped into Target for the "belly band" and finally found an open restaurant in Niantic, The Black Sheep, where had a great late lunch/early dinner-

Quiet NYE at home

We had a lovely New Years Eve at home this year. Mike cooked several dishes slowly in hopes of keeping me awake until midnight. Stuffed clams, bruchetta, stuffed mushrooms and finally lobster & asparagus- which was my last dish to enjoy around 10ish- I was able to hold on until 11:15 before I fell sound asleep on the couch. He woke me just before midnight and we watched the ball drop- had a champagne toast and then I went back to bed-

Happy New Year!

I used to be big on resolutions- Quit smoking, get to the gym more, blah blah blah-

This year I am just going to keep on living and loving like I do. Enjoy the day to day; the simple things; time with friends and people who matter- let those whom I love, know that I do, treat myself and my body right and be the best I can be for the new addition to our family growing inside of me.

On another note: Let me tell you what has MADE my day-
1) The belly band- For $16.99 at Target, this cannot be beat! I get to wear my jeans (unbuttoned) & this stretchy band covers my belly and top of my jeans- saves me from having to jump into that pair of Maternity jeans that I bought. (I am just not ready)
2) Ruby Red Grapefruit- I am having this for my 3:00pm-ish snack and it is DEVINE
